Fair Work Information Statement

The Fair Work Ombudsman has released the Fair Work Information Statement, which must be provided to all new employees from 1 January in accordance with the National Employment Standards.
The Fair Work Information Statement fives employees information on workplace matters including:
- the National Employment Standards;
- modern award;
- agreement-making;
- the right to freedom of association;
- the role of Fair Work Australia and the Fair Work Ombudsman;
- termination of employment;
- individual flexiblity arrangements; and
- right of entry (including the protection of personal information by privacy laws).
Employers may provide the Fair Work Information Statement to their employees by various means including:
- giving a hard copy to each employee personally;
- posting, emailing or faxing a copy to each employee;
- emailing to each employee an electronic link to the page of the Fair Work Ombudsman's website on which the statement is located; or
- any other manner of giving the statement to an employee.
